It is Friday afternoon as I write – not the “it’s Friday afternoon somewhere” kind of Friday, it really is Friday afternoon. It’s September in Arizona, it’s still pretty warm and an Aperol Spritz sounds like it would be just the thing to slake my thirst. So, since I can’t make a cocktail – or pretty much anything else – without documenting it, I am sharing my aperol spritz recipe. It’s an Italian thing, but it should be an everyone thing. A lot of mixed drink recipes today are pretty complicated – we live in the age of the mixologist after all – but this is classic Italian – simple to make, beautiful to behold, and delicious.
- An an ice-filled glass (or 2 or 3 or 4 or, well you get the idea – depends on how many friends you have)
- 2 oz Aperol
- 3-4 oz dry Prosecco
- 1 oz Club Soda
- Garnish with an orange wheel
I want everyone to pay close attention because this part is key:
- Pour the above ingredients in glass
- Look at your drinking companions, raise your glass, wink, and say “Salute!”
As we like to say in our house, “Cent’anno!” Meaning, here’s too a 100 years. Hope you like it. Goodbye Friday afternoon, hello Friday night!
Original recipe came from Bit By A Fox.
