Homemade Brownies Recipe From Scratch

 

My mom has been searching for the perfect homemade brownie recipe forever.  She has yet to find it. But I think I have it.  Well, my daughter has it.  I don’t know how she came up with this one, but it is excellent.  Funny thing is I didn’t even know she knew how to make brownies from scratch before 6 months ago.  See, for years I was working 10-14 hours a day (yes, you read that right)in my business as a cheesemaker.  That left lots of time for other people in my house to invade my territory – the kitchen.  I couldn’t be happier that they did.

I have one daughter who mastered an incredible pork tenderloin and another who has created a fantastic brownie recipe.   I still remember the Friday night we were all together playing cards and my husband asked her when she was making brownies. I laughed.  How wrong was I?  My daughter got up from the table and started moving around the kitchen like it was her territory, proceeding to mix up what turned out to be the perfect batch of chocolate brownies.  I was in awe and oh so proud.  I no longer make brownies in my house, she does.  So when I asked her permission to share her brownie recipe with all of you, she laughed at the irony.  Thankfully she’s a good sharer.  We use Scharffen Berger unsweetened cocoa powder which is a little more expensive, but the flavor is so much better. This is such an easy brownie recipe I encourage you to give it a try.  Why make brownies from a box when you can make them from scratch in the same amount of time?  Leave a comment or picture or a question here or on our Facebook page. Homemade Brownies From Scratch

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs, large
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ⅔ cups cocoa powder (Scharffen Berger)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup AP Flour
  • 1 cup walnuts(optional)

PREPARATION

Mix the oil, sugar, eggs, and vanilla in a large bowl with a spoon until they are blended.  In a separate bowl combine the baking powder, cocoa powder, salt and flour.  Whisk to combine.  Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix with the spoon until combined.  Don’t overmix.  Pour contents into a greased 9″x13” baking dish and bake on 350 for 30-35 mins.
